Itinerary

  • Checking into the Seair Hangar at 06:15am, your adventure begins with a meet & greet with the other guests, before an early briefing and our departure sees the sun rising over the Gold Coast as you head north-west for a 2 hour flight to Wallaroo in the Carnarvon Ranges. Nestled amongst the magnificent sandstone cliffs of the Carnarvon Ranges, Wallaroo is a 72,000 acre cattle property.

Close to the Carnarvon Gorge National Park but far from the tourist-worn trail, your local specialist guide will introduce the diverse environment, rich with Australian fauna and flora. From the massive to the microscopic, you’ll get a sense of the region’s incredible scenery and biodiversity. You’ll visit an Indigenous site on the hidden reaches of the Dawson River and little-known Indigenous rock art sites and caves beneath the magnificent sandstone cliffs.

Our lunch-stop in a cycad-filled gorge amid spectacular rock formations feels like an adventure in a prehistoric landscape. Then, a highlight of the tour is emerging to the incredible scenic view of the Arcadia Valley hundreds of metres below. Your air-conditioned, 4WD minibus gives access along bush tracks and only short walks are needed to get to the vantage points. This discovery is for lovers of wild Australia where the land still has the power to leave a lasting impression. Wholesome morning tea and lunch.

Departing around 3pm, relax into the comfort of your Cessna Caravan for the 2 hour flight over Central West Queensland to Winton where you will be transported to your exclusive accommodation at the Rangelands Outback Camp. Your first stop is the Australian Age of Dinosaurs which is home to the largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils in the world. Your full tour includes the Laboratory, Collection Room, Dinosaur Canyon, and March of the Titanosaurs.

After enjoying a hamper lunch, we head back into Winton to explore the Waltzing Matilda Centre, the first museum in the world dedicated to a song, boasting state of the art interpretation, telling the story of Waltzing Matilda, Winton and the Outback Region.

To finish off an amazing day spend the afternoon either enjoying free time around the Rangelands property, walk the main street of town, enjoy a taste of Opal shopping or explore the Waltzing Matilda Museum.

Return to Rangelands in the late afternoon to live the true outback life as you watch the spectacular sunset turn into a stargazers dream while enjoying sunset drinks & cheese platters on the deck, before a delicious gourmet dinner including champagne, top shelf wines & spirits as well as beers and soft/fruit drinks.

  • Enjoy a gourmet breakfast with a view on the deck at Rangelands, before a short flight to Longreach sees you picked up at the airport for a visit to Nogo Station.

You rarely feel closer to the iconic Australian life than when you’re on an outback station. This signature working station visit helps you appreciate the size of stations, their isolation, and the magnitude of the challenges they face.

Enjoy the town sights and insights into Longreach on the 20 minute coach ride to Nogo, then transfer to an open-topped, double-decker, overlander bus for great views on your station tour.

Your Kinnon family host will keep you enthralled with tales of pioneering station life, past and present. You’ll discover the merino story and meet the merinos in the historic woolsheds, join your hosts on the water run, see the ruins of Captain Starlight’s famous stockyards and see Brahman cattle, horses, camels, emus and wild donkeys on the sunlit plains, before enjoying a saddle-bag lunch under the gum trees.
